We recently completed our inaugural 15-week AgLaunch Accelerator. We are proud of our companies’ successes. Cowlar will be attending Y Combinator and is expanding its footprint in the US dairy market. Secure Food Solutions was awarded a Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to further develop its propriety technology to solve a global food safety issue. YieldStart has established opportunities for the use of a biobased polymer in seed coatings, to support biologic input deployment. Skycision is expanding to row crops such as cotton, leveraging its experience in vineyards.

Applications for the 2017 AgLaunch Accelerator are now being accepted. Applications will close March 1st, 2017 and accepted teams will be notified by April 1st. The program begins on May 2nd and culminates with a demo day on August 10th.

Teams will move to Memphis for the entire accelerator process to fully utilize all available resources. The AgLaunch Accelerator teams will receive core programming as part of Memphis’s “Summer of Acceleration”, joining an entrepreneur hub with about 20 other startups from multiple industries while experiencing a world-class deep dive into how to integrate into the agriculture industry.

Memphis is the center of a fast growing agricultural innovation hub, leveraging its unparalleled agricultural assets and knowledge to help founders solve real problems. The AgLaunch Accelerator, led by Memphis Bioworks Foundation’s Ag Innovation Development Group and the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, provides best-in-class entrepreneurial training as well as access to a world-class network of mentors and technical experts. Programming is supported through the expertise of Start Co. and EPIcenter.

Key AgLaunch partners include Ritter Agribusiness, Farm Credit Mid-America, Agricenter International, Launch Tennessee, Baker Donelson, Archer Malmo, and others.

PARTICIPANTS IN THE ACCELERATOR WILL HAVE ACCESS TO:

• A $50K investment and access to network of venture capital investors focused on agriculture
• World-class mentor network from leading agricultural firms and experienced entrepreneurs
• Incubator support assets including: prototype machine shop, lab facility, research farm for small plot trials, wet labs, biomass & food processing equipment and university support
• Farm partners willing to provide feedback and customer development opportunities including farm scale trials & local agribusiness firms providing ability to test solutions in the logistics, handling and storage
• Great support network of service providers with agricultural and startup experience including legal, accounting, marketing, and strategy

• Supply-chain improvements, packaging, & delivery
• Biologic-based insect, weed and disease controls focused on row crops

• Environmentally sustainable technologies
• Food safety diagnostics and treatment, as well as food integrity solutions
• Specialty crops & approaches to creating new markets
