We are looking for stories that will amaze us.

Cortona On The Move, at its 8th edition this year, continues its partnership with LensCulture to seek strong and original documentary work from all over the world.

New Visions stems from the desire to follow up closely the ever-changing language of photography. Visual essays need to play with a new grammar and challenge the eyes of the viewer in order to be seen and to keep communicating a strong message and offer new emotions.

In the spirit of our motto “on the move”, we will value the originality of style and language with which the works have been conceived and created. Concept and execution go hand in hand, and the output should strive to attract a broad audience and to surprise/provoke/inform/move. Novelty in form and content are our keywords.

Among all the submissions, 3 projects will be awarded a solo show at Cortona On The Move 2018 from July 12nd to September 30th.

More opportunities for the other 12 finalists:

• 4 projects will be selected to be published on Repubblica.it in July 2018
• 8 projects will be selected to be projected, with all the finalists, during the opening days of Cortona On The Move 2018.

How to apply?

Submissions should include:

• a minimum of 8 images and a maximum of 15 images. Each image should be jpegs or pngs files that are a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side (but up to 2000 pixels is fine) and no more than 10 MB. Each image submitted must have a corresponding high resolution file available of at least 10Mbs which will be requested if your work is selected for the call.
• a title
• a submission statement on your work in English (maximum 4000 characters spaces included)
• your biography in English (a short written bio, not a CV)

Regulations

• All projects submitted should be not previously exhibited in major venues or events, and the author should possess exclusive copyright ownership of the work.
• Any project submitted that is the combined work of more than one author should be presented with the prior agreement of all parties concerned and should be accompanied by a disclaimer signed by each party.
• You must grant Cortona On The Move legal rights to exhibit your work and to publish it in print for promotional purposes.
• Photographic prints will be made at the expense of the Cultural Association ONTHEMOVE and will become part of the Association’s archives. ONTHEMOVE could use them at other events in agreement with the author.

LensCulture and Cortona On The Move

LensCulture is a global community of photographers and industry professionals that became an authoritative resource for contemporary photography through a community of over 2.5 million participants. The collaboration with Cortona On The Move wants to expand the possibility of sharing and discovery in an international context of professionals and amateurs that promotes the exchange and the opportunity of exposure and recognition. Through this partnership photographers can apply to be exhibited at Cortona On The Move international photo festival, as well as gain access to many opportunities for exposure and recognition through LensCulture.
