Overview

The #Case4Space photo competition is aimed at raising awareness and advocating for civic space in Asia-Pacific through photography.

Details

Lasting for 8 weeks, the competition will release a weekly question that relates to one of the Case for Space themes. The top 25 photos with the most likes (wows, and/or hearts) will be judged by a panel of independent artists, development professionals and UN staff.

The photo MUST answer the question of the week and include a maximum 50-word caption describing the scene, image and/or issue.  

To be eligible to win a trip to Bangkok, to present your photo, you MUST participate in all the themes listed below. The photos will be left to the creativity of the photographer, but should attempt to answer the following questions:

Week 1: Freedom of expression, association and assemblyWithin the context of your community, what does freedom (online/offline) mean to you? – Online and Offline freedoms

Week 2: Young women and civic spaceWhat does civic space look like for young women in your country? 

Week 3: Online safety and securityWhat are the risks young people experience online and how does this impact you or the life of someone you know? 

Week 4:  Right to participate (Young people engaging in social and political debates)How do young people participate in civic space in your country? 

Week 5: Civic space in your communityCivic space takes different forms around the world. What does civic space look like in your community?

How: You must post a total of five photos, one for each theme, publicly on Instagram and/or Facebook, using the #Case4SpaceInsta hashtag

Candidates should be from Vietnam and some other countries

Description of Ideal Candidate:

Young people living in Asia and the Pacific (age: 18-29)

Deadline: May 05, 2017

Cost/funding for participants: Fully Funded

From the top 25 photos, ten will be selected for printing and display at the "Evidence-based Policies on Youth Development in Asia" workshop taking place on 29 May-1 June in Bangkok, Thailand. The photographer with the top photo will win a fully funded trip to present their work to the workshop participants.
