Do you dream of studying in Australia? Do you want to experience uni life before you apply? The University of Melbourne is offering one aspiring, creative and ambitious international student, flights, accommodation and a place on a 1-week Young Leaders Program in 2018, in Melbourne, Australia!

What is the Young Leaders program?

The Young Leaders Program, offered at Trinity College, the University of Melbourne, provides students aged between 14 and 17 the opportunity to broaden their outlook on learning and study, to be inspired, to increase their confidence, to practice leadership skills and to consider their future directions. Each year more than 300 students from all around the world participate in this life-changing residential program which offers 1, 2 and 3 week programs.

What is the competition?

We want you to show us (vis social media) what future you see for yourself at the University of Melbourne. This could relate to living in Melbourne, studying at one of our beautiful campuses, using the Melbourne Model to gain two qualifications, or the career path you might take. We will select our favourite submission as the winner and they will receive a one-week place on the Trinity College Young Leaders Program. The prize-winner is able to stay for the additional program weeks at their own cost.

What else is included in the competition prize?

  1. Return flights from your home country to Melbourne, Australia, plus airport transfers in Melbourne.
  2. Accommodation at Trinity College for the duration of the program. All students will stay in a Trinity College dorm room, sharing with one other student of the same gender and where possible, same age, but from another country. Males and females will be in separate buildings (where possible) or on separate floors. Each floor is supervised by at least two mentors. Bedding, towels, blankets, and laundry facilities are all provided. Please note, the College is a secure facility, protected by a 24-hour security service.
  3. Breakfast, lunch and dinner for the duration of the program.
  4. Academic tuition, mentoring, leadership and extra-curricular activities. All activities and excursions are fully supervised by trained staff.
  5. The cost of a tourist visa (if required) and compulsory travel and medical insurance. Please note, you are responsible for organising your visa and insurance.
  6. The opportunity to participate in lectures and workshops at Trinity College and the University of Melbourne with other like-minded young leaders from around the world.

  • Sunday 1 July - Sunday 8 July 2018
  • Sunday 8 July - Sunday 15 July 2018
  • Sunday 2 December - Sunday 9 December 2018
  • Sunday 9 December - Sunday 16 December 2018
  • Sunday 25 November - Sunday 2 December 2018

How to enter

It’s simple!

  1. Register to enter the competition here.
  2. Post an image or video on social media using the competition hashtag #unimelbphotocomp and tag us in your image. The image or video must represent what future you see for yourself at the University of Melbourne. This could relate to living in Melbourne, studying at one of our beautiful campuses, using the Melbourne Model to gain two qualifications, or the career path you might take. You’ll need to also include a description (in English) explaining what that future means to you.

Am I eligible for the competition?

The competition is open to all international students who are aged 14 - 17 years old and reside outside of Australia and New Zealand during the competition period and program dates are welcome to apply. Please note, Australian and New Zealand passport holders or dual-citizens are not eligible to apply for the competition.

  • Competition period: 12:01am (AEST) Saturday 6 January 2018 – 11.59pm (AEST) Sunday 4 February 2018.
  • Winner determination: Thursday 8 February 2018.
  • Winner advised by: 5pm (AEST) Friday 9 February 2018.
  • Winner to confirm acceptance of prize by: 5pm (AEST) Monday 19 February 2018.
