The Imre Kertész Kolleg is pleased to offer fellowships for the academic year 2018-2019 for periods of residence from three months up to a full academic year. Fellows are expected to conduct a larger scholarly project corresponding to the research profile of the Kolleg.

At the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, is a place of interdisciplinary and transnational historical science research on historical events of the 20th century in Central Eastern and South Eastern Europe.

Course Level: This is a three months fellowship program.

Study Subject: Applications are invited from noted and established scholars in the history of Central and Eastern Europe or neighbouring disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, political sciences, philosophy, literary studies or linguistics relevant to the region.

Scholarship Award: Stipends range from € 3.000 to € 5.300 per month according to the academic position at the home institution. The Kolleg will provide work space, support by student research assistants, and will help to find appropriate accommodation in Jena.

Scholarship can be taken in Germany

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:

  • Completed doctorate (if applied to a Junior Fellowship: submitted thesis at the time of the application)
  • Research project in the field of the Imre Kertész Kolleg (focus in the 20th century, central reference to Central and South Eastern Europe, Russia and Ukraine in the larger European context)
  • Applications from neighboring disciplines are expressly desired

Nationality: German students are eligible to apply for this fellowship program.
