  • Genomics and proteomics
  • Microbiome science
  • Evolutionary biology and ecology

Benefits

The fully funded bursary offers complete coverage by the German social security system, health insurance and a disposable income of 1200€ per month.

The scholarship is awarded for three years and funding can be extended into a fourth year if required by the PhD project.

Enrolment (matriculation) at the University of Tübingen is optional and costs approximately 150 €/semester.

Eligibility Requirements

The 10 fully funded positions commence in August/September 2018 and is available to International students.

Interested applicants should hold a degree in natural or computer science from a Masters, Diploma or equivalent program. The applicant’s skills and knowledge should match their interest of proposed area of doctoral research. All degree work must be finished by September 1 2018.

In the rare event where exceptionally gifted students holding only a Bachelors degree applies, additional study requirements to be fulfilled during the first year of IMPRS participation may be assigned. These students must hold a 4-years honors degree, have excellent grades and possess extensive and relevant research experience.

Degrees obtained outside the European Higher Education Area

Students who may have obtained their degree outside the European Higher Education region must include scores from the GRE General Test. The scores can be forwarded online using the institution code 4791.

Applicants holding an Indian GATE score can supply this with/instead of the GRE.

TOEFL scores cannot replace the GRE scores, but can be submitted in addition. (As a guide: Applicants scoring more than 152 on the GRE verbal test and more than 155 on the quantitative test are usually successful. But good test results do not guarantee admission to the program. Instead, they provide evidence and help to point out outstanding students.)

Visit this site for more information about the GRE General Test.
