[Hàn Quốc] Học Bổng Tiến Sĩ Tại Đại Học Quốc Gia Kyungpook 2017

Hết hạn

The School of Disaster Prevention and Environmental Engineering of Kyungpook National University (Sangu Campus) offers a PhD scholarship (3 ~ 3.5 years) for highly motivated and exceptional students. The programs are research based and require publishing of research results in reputed academic journals. A selected candidate will be involved in a government-funded research project. The candidate will receive full tuition fee waiver and starting monthly stipend (1,000,000 KRW). Kyungpook National University (KNU) is one of the leading national universities in Korea.

Research Topic:

The PhD candidate will work on experimental and numerical studies for flocculation kinetics of cohesive sediments in the water environment.

Firstly, she/he will prepare/perform laboratory experiments to investigate flocculation kinetics and analyze experimental results by fitting the measured data to a flocculation kinetic model (Lee et al., 2011; 2012).

Secondly, she/he will be involved in development and application of the flocculation kinetic model to large-scale, multi-dimensional cohesive sediment transport. The second task will include implementation of the flocculation kinetic model to an open-source CFD code, such as TELEMAC and OpenFoam. ---------------------------------Lee BJ, Toorman E, Molz FJ, and Wang J (2011), A two-class population balance equation yielding bimodal flocculation of marine or estuarine sediments, Water Research, 45(5), 2131-2145Lee BJ, Fettweis M, Toorman E, and Molz F (2012), Multimodality of a particle size distribution of cohesive suspended particulate matters in a coastal zone, Journal of Geophysical Research, 117, C03014, DOI:10.1029/2011JC007552---------------------------------Expectation:

The ideal candidate has: Strong Background in environmental engineering, specifically for aquatic chemistry, reaction kinetics and mathematical modelling Experiences in a laboratory, such as reactor operation, chemical analysis, use of analytical instruments and so on Knowledge of fluid mechanics and cohesive sediment transport Experiences in the use of programming languages, such as FORTRAN and MATLAB Experiences in the use of open-source CFD codes, such as TELEMAC and OpenFoam

Eligibility:

Master’s degree holding candidates with strong academic background from environmental, chemical, civil engineering or other related academic disciplines are encouraged to apply. A valid English proficiency test score (TOEFL 530(CBT 197, iBT 71), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, TEPS 600, TOEIC 700 or higher) is required for students from non-English-speaking countries.

How to Apply & Procedure:

Candidates should send required documents (motivation letter, CV, copies of academic transcripts and English test result, list of relevant publications) by email to Prof. Byung Joon Lee ([email protected]) with subject "Application for PhD Position @ KNU-WaRQM". IF your CV is found suitable, you will be contacted for further process and review.Find more information about Prof. Byung Joon Lee on the researchgate website
