Global Leaders of Tomorrow Undergraduate Scholarships 2017 (Fully-funded)

Deadline: April 1, 2017

University of Bridgeport seeks to support a select group of promising students throughout the period of their undergraduate studies in the form of a comprehensive scholarship. University of Bridgeport therefore invites applications for the Global Leaders of Tomorrow scholarship program.  Students will be selected on the basis of their academic performance in their secondary school studies and through a nomination provided by the student’s high school counselor or the local EducationUSA advisor. Nominations from other sources will not be accepted.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must demonstrate full English language proficiency, and possess the equivalent of a 3.5 Grade Point Average (GPA) or higher on a scale of 4.
  • Final selection will be made based on the student’s potential for growth, academic performance, community involvement, and leadership, as demonstrated through academic transcripts, test scores, the counselor’s letter of nomination, and the student-authored supplementary essay.
  • Students must personally apply directly to the University of Bridgeport. Applications submitted through a third party will not be considered for the Global Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship.

Scholarship Award

The scholarship will cover:

  • full cost of tuition and fees.
  • cost of room and board in an on-campus residency hall for the duration of four years of undergraduate studies for first-time freshman students.

Students receiving this scholarship are required to:

  • pay a minimal housing fee each semester.
  • enroll in and pay for the University of Bridgeport’s mandatory health insurance.

How to Apply

To Apply

  • Please complete the following online application.
  • Write an essay in which you imagine that you are in a leadership position in your home country or community (note that while many leaders who effect change are politicians, they can also be scholars, activists, scientists, artists, etc.), then choose an issue about which you feel passionately and describe it in detail, giving a sense of the arguments or counterarguments associated with the issue. Tell us where you stand and why, using real-world evidence as well as your unique perspective as a member of your community. Hypothetically, how would you address this issue and what would your community or country look like as a result of your actions? Please be as specific as possible, but limit your response to 500-750 words.

Please e-mail inquiries to [email protected]
