[Hawaii] The World Youth Congress_Call For Delegates To Come To WYC 2017

The World Youth Congress was created in Hawaii in 1999 and has been hosted by the following nations in previous years: Morocco (2003), Scotland (2005), Quebec, Canada (2007), Istanbul, Turkey (2010), and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2012).

The purpose of the congress is to assist young people to understand the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.     

WHAT DO WE HAVE IN WYC 2017?

- Hawaii join the Polynesian Voyaging Society in celebrating the homecoming of the Hōkūle`a!   

The 2017 World Youth Congress (WYC) will: 

- Inspire and empower a movement of young leaders around the world - Build critical skills, KNOWLEDGE, and networks for local youth engaged in community planning and organizing 

- Create and leverage greater opportunities for meaningful youth involvement within their local communities 

- Enhance public opinion on the values and role of youth LEADERSHIP in achieving   

Applicant criteria:   

(1) Preference to be between 18 and 25 years of age 

(2) Young people who demonstrate their involvement in the society such as working in community projects, entrepreneurship, NGOs, IGOs.  

(3) Knowledgeable in SDGs is prefered 

(4) Proficiency in spoken and written English

 (5) Be able to afford their own airfare either by raising funds or self burdening to Hawaii     

THE UNITED NATIONS 2015 SUSTAINABILITY GOALS continuing the momentum build during THE WORLDWIDE VOYAGE MĀLAMA HONUA CHALLENGE.

The selection process will based on rolling basis.

The final deadline is 15 April, 2017. 

PLEASE note that there is NO TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIPS for successful delegates.

Delegates will be covered all costs including accomodation, meals, domestic transportations and travel insurance in Hawaii.
