ROLE OVERVIEW

The British Council is the UK's principal organisation for cultural relations and our purpose is to build mutually beneficial relations with people in the UK and in Vietnam. Our activities range from partnership projects in the arts, education and English language, and social development, through to providing opportunities for young Vietnamese to learn English and achieve UK qualifications and study in the UK.

Higher education, research and innovation are key focus of the British Council in its Internationalisation of Higher Education (IHE) work. The Newton Fund is a £2 million fund per year for five years available for collaboration in research and innovation between UK and Vietnam. British Council is appointed to manage People strand under the Newton Fund.

We are looking for a Higher Education Programme Helper to support team to implement series of BC Newton Fund events in Vietnam, including but not limited to the following: 

  • assist the Higher Education Officer in promoting series of events from January – March including: Science reception, Famelab Competition, School lab, STEM monitoring and evaluation and training week
  • update IHE webpage on regular basis
  • update Newton Fund program database
  • liaison closely with Communication team to maximize team event PR: press release, media contact, photographer
  • support the logistics for event organisation
  • assist with flight and hotel reservations for team members, if needed;
  • other logistics and admin tasks as assigned
  • translate documents from English to Vietnamese and vice versa

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • university degree
  • good command of English
  • organisational skills, teamwork, able to write short article in both Vietnamese and English
  • experience in social media and event organisation
