1. What is NGO Traineeship

With the aim of connecting NGOs with talented young people, Centre for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS) is calling for 20 motivated and dynamic applicants to participate in the “NGO Traineeship Program 2017”. The participants will be provided with intensive training, a traineeship placement from 3 – 6 months, and on-going support from CSDS. Each participant will gain direct experience in community services and development work and the program will be the first step to embarking on a career in an NGO.

This program is a key part of the Youth Drivers for Change project, which is being implemented by the CSDS with funding provided by Irish Aid. The project aims to build the capacity of young people so that they can lead voluntary and community based organizations and take social action. In this way, these young people will contribute positively to the on-going development of Vietnam.

There have already been 3 successful programs since 2015 with with 55 participants and 20 NGO partners. This is an opportunity for young people to explore and develop their future career in the NGO sector as well as contribute to community development.

2. Program content:

· Training: July 2017

Week 1: Basic knowledge about NPOs, NGOs and working skills in general

Week 2: Specialist skill in project management and communication in NGO.

Week 3: Development knowledge & Sharing session with experts on developing practical working skills

We also arrange Study visit and field trip to local projects and NGOs within the training session.

· Traineeship placement: August 2017

Traineeship Placements (3-6 months) in NGOs that suit the trainees’ desires and capacity.

Trainees gain direct experience in community services and development work, as the first step to embarking on a career within this field.

Trainees have on-going support by CSDS which will include facilitating monthly meetings to discuss challenges/difficulties which may arise during the working period, and arranging additional training (eg. English language, interpersonal communication & conflict resolution skills).

NGOs have suitable and quality trainees that can support in operations, and potential staff source.

3. Venue:

· Training at: SOCI Hub – No.16A, Van Minh Alley, Lane 169, Doan Ke Thien, Cau Giay, Hanoi

· Study visit in NGOs

4. Fees:

· All training costs of the program will be covered by the organizers. (training materials, tea-break, speakers,…)

· Participants are responsible for their own transportation to training venue and accommodation during the training period.

· Participants shall pay a deposit of 1.000.000 VND which will be returned after finishing the program. (both training and traineeship placement sessions)

5. Who can apply?

Applicants should:

· Be between the ages of 20 and 27 (senior, recent graduate from a university/college…)

· Be a Vietnamese citizen

· Have a proficient level of verbal and written English.

· Desire to work and develop career in community development.

· Have commitment to attend all trainings and participate fully in the traineeship placement in an NGO.

· Be willing to actively participate in a 3-week-training program and 3 to 6 months traineeship.

· Be good at computer literacy: Word, Excel, Internet

· Preferably have experience in communication work.

· Preferably have experience of volunteering activities

We encourage participants with diverse background, from different regions, ethnics as well as disadvantaged groups such as: LGBTQ, ethinic minority, people with disabilities…

· Application deadline: 23:59 pm 1st July, 2017

· Application screening and shortlisted candidates interviewed: July 2017

(Skype interview is accepted for participants from outside of Hanoi)
