1. Coordinator for National Hepatitis Survey, Vietnam

Title: GHS Survey Coordinator

Location: Ha Noi, Vietnam

 

SAFETYNET is an international Non-Governmental Organization that works in partnership with Ministries of Health, other non-governmental organizations, international agencies and other public health agencies to enhance opportunities for inter-regional exchange, sharing expertise, and promote interagency and interdisciplinary collaborations to build applied epidemiology capacity.

SAFETYNET seeks to recruit a local expert in Vietnam to support and coordinate a national hepatitis community sero-survey. The survey coordinator will be based at the General Department of Preventive Medicine (GDPM) and work with the Ministry of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Vietnam.

Importantly, fellows in Vietnam’s Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) will participate in the pilot phase of the survey and as trainers for field staff. Specific responsibilities of the coordinator include:

Responsibilities:

  • Support GDPM in the development, and the day-to- day management and implementation of the national hepatitis survey.
  • Provide technical assistance to finalize the survey protocol, including the objectives, methodology, sampling strategy, and sample size, and full technical and ethical review in both English and Vietnamese.
  • Support implementation of the protocol in all geographic areas of Vietnam, including:

o Development of data collection and management plan, and tools.

o Standard operating procedures for all aspects of the project.

o Training materials and facilitation of training workshops.

o Overseeing the logistical preparation for sample and data collection in the field.

o Regular data quality review and troubleshooting.

o Coordination of all of the different groups involved in implementation.

o Overseeing FETP fellows’ engagement in the survey.

  • Communication regarding all aspects of the project with all project partners including GDPM, regional institutes, other MOH stakeholders, CDC-Vietnam and CDC-Atlanta
  • Drafting of the analytic plan, requesting input from partners, and incorporating edits.
  • Other technical issues as they arise.

 

Required skills and experience:

  • Master degree in a Public Health field (Epidemiology or Biostatistics) is required, PhD or Dr.PH degree
  • (Epidemiology, public health, or biostatistics) is preferred.
  • Experience working with large scale community surveys or other studies.
  • Experience working with the Vietnam Government Organizations.
  • Experience working with non-governmental organizations and donors.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environment.

ANNUAL SALARY:
Ordinarily Resident (OR): FSN-5; US$6,726(Starting Salary)
Not-Ordinarily Resident (NOR): FP-9; US$33,700(Starting Salary)

The U.S. Mission in Hanoi, Vietnam is seeking eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Visa Clerk in its Consular Section (CONS).

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

Incumbent of this position will serve as a visa clerk and perform functions associated with processing Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV) applications during peak visa seasons. Job functions include intake of applications, data entry, biometric collection, visa pasting, returning documents through the post courier service, and assisting with other tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.

1. EDUCATION: Completion of secondary school (grade 12) is required. Page 2 of 5
2. EXPERIENCE: At least one year of experience in the consular area, or area related to customer service and/or work applying regulatory material is required.
3. LANGUAGE: Level 3 (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required (this will be tested). Level 4(Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing Vietnamese is required.
4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to deal with customers in a professional and courteous manner, and to work under pressure. Must have advanced keyboarding and data entry skills. Basic mechanical and mathematical skills are required. Must have the ability to translate/interpret professionally English to Vietnamese and vice versa. Must have excellent organizational, management and interpersonal skills, the ability to multitask efficiently with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to perform all duties connected with NIV processing.
5. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have basic knowledge of Vietnamese law as it pertains to marriage, personal property, civil rights and immigration, as well as of the national and provincial education systems, in order to be able to evaluate the bona fides of various public documents submitted.
