Data Analyst

1. Job Description

Role Overview:

Fundamentals is one of the key verticals within CAVS (Content Analytics and Valuation Services) which caters to clients engaged in equity research. The vertical is basically responsible for providing financial information to the clients on companies across the globe. Financial information for the clients would basically mean presenting financial statements as reported by the companies to the clients. 

The day-to-day responsibility would mean updating Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flow Statement information in the database which would be key input to generate the ratio analytics and eventually flow on to the products. The data collection process would be completely governed by internal policies of Thomson Reuters. The entire updates would need to be performed within the set timelines and with expected standards of accuracy.

Major Responsibilities:

• Process and maintain data accurately and in a timely manner onto databases using database and financial knowledge.
• Ensure data accuracy, timeliness and completeness are maintained as per company standards
• Developing expertise in database and financial knowledge through continuous learning and development. Build up knowledge of financial regulations and market practices/conventions in relevant markets.
• Maximise usage of available tools/support to best of advantage to maintain/improve content quality during daily operations
• Adhere to dynamic process/MoW changes, data operations standards and current data policies & procedures.
• Responsible for delivering high productivity and quality data as per expected performance standards
• Proactively identify, escalate and resolve data problems
• Communicate & liaise with internal and external departments for resolution of data queries as per established process
• Test new database/application releases where appropriate, providing expert user feedback.

2. Qualifications

• Should have good understanding about basic accounting concepts
• Sound knowledge of financial management concepts
• Should have awareness about the financial statements. Should know what these statements mean, what all components do they have etc
• Should be proficient in using MS-Excel
• Should have good keyboard skills
• Soft skills and other competencies
• Should be a very quick learner and should display high level of agility.
• Should have good communication skills – written and verbal.
• Should be able to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and flexible to work extended hours depending upon business requirements
• Should be flexible enough to work in different shifts at different points in time and this would include night shifts
• Certifications / Education
• Any Bachelor's or Masters’ degree with basic accounts and financial knowledge

Reuters News Assistant

1. Job Description Reuters is seeking an energetic news assistant to be based in our Hanoi bureau.
2. Responsibility:

• The essential responsibility is to ensure Thomson Reuters has the best coverage of the stories from Vietnam that are important to our clients.
• We are looking for a self-starter, able to work alone and in support of other colleagues in Vietnam and across Asia, with the drive to work sources and craft unique story ideas.
• The candidate must be an all-rounder, able to handle stories from equities, the macro economy, companies and commodities to international relations, trade deals, and lively news features.
• The role is primarily related to financial news, but the candidate must have a strong understanding of general news with international perspective on what matters most in Vietnam.

3. Qualifications

• A bachelor degree, preferably in an economics-related field
• At least two years experience working in news
• Fluency in English and Vietnamese
• Accuracy and strong ethics
• Flexibility to work outside of office hours when news breaks
• Excellent news judgment
• Good writing, teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and respond quickly to breaking news
