Position Purpose:

McDonald’s Vietnam continues to grow rapidly and is on track to achieve its long term growth targets. Supply Chain continues to strive to be a catalyst for and enabler of this growth and adds value by providing best-in-class quality products and services at a competitive price through the deployment of resources tailored to the needs of the business. The team manages and executes a highly effective supply chain by partnering with other key stakeholders – Leadership, other functions, McDonald’s Global, DC, and other suppliers/ service providers.

At this phase of McDonald’s growth in Vietnam, therefore, there are opportunities in the areas of Menu and in further optimizing Category Supply.

Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, this role, therefore, requires an expertise set that’s a unique mix of Menu Management and Category Management.

Initially, ~75% of the role will be for Menu Management and in the future may rest at ~50/50 mix (Menu Management vs. Category Management)

Accountabilities:

MENU MANAGEMENT

Menu Strategy Formulation / Execution

  • Leads / helps in the formulation of a Menu Strategy that will enhance Brand McDonald’s contribute to a mix of incremental guest counts, sales, and profitability
  • Regularly scans the industry for menu developments in competition and other McDonald’s markets
  • Converts menu strategy into a product / promotion calendar with clear KPIs and targets
  • Leads / helps in regular reviews of menu strategy to ensure alignment with over-all McDonald’s Vietnam strategy and relevance to market conditions

Product Development / Supplier Management

  • Ensures McDonald’s requirements in supplier selection and product development are met
  • Leads discussions with key stakeholders to convert product pipeline into actual menu items – complete with builds (food and packaging), costs, proposed menu pricing, and restaurant procedures.
  • Works with Strategic Sourcing to ensure the product development and supplier selection exercises are in line with the over-all Supply Chain strategies
  • Guides any new supplier through the McDonald’s approval process and ensure all requirements are met before start of supply.

Operational Execution

  • Coordinates with key stakeholders to ensure alignment around promotions and projections to assure supply of safe and quality SKUs needed by the stores
  • Helps DC with projections and new supplier introductions and coordinates with Operations on restaurant orders and deliveries
  • Monitors actual promotion performance versus KPIs and recommends adjustments in promotion mechanics and supply plan (if needed)
  • Leads pre and post promotion analyses

CATEGORY MANAGEMENT

Supply Chain Development and Management

  • Identifies relevant McDonald’s business drivers for given product category
  • Ensures that suppliers and their products / services meet McDonald’s requirements / expectations at all times
  • Assesses the industry and the product type including supply and demand situation, competitor review, supplier capabilities, capacities, and competencies, in relation to McDonald’s current and future demand for specific product categories
  • Works directly with suppliers to ensure the necessary infrastructure to execute the plan
  • Evaluates and negotiates with suppliers to achieve most competitive predictable pricing
  • Demonstrates a genuine understanding and need for all parties (internal and external) to comply with the highest McDonald’s standards and value; and is passionate about reinforcing and practicing them at every opportunity

 Category Management

  • Provides subject matter expertise
  • Develops strategies and ensures they deliver against business and team objectives
  • Develops and maintains performance metrics – success measures, KPIs,…
  • Maintains and promotes awareness of industry updates, regulatory issues, and commodity markets

Relationship Management

  • Manages the business relationship with assigned suppliers including but not limited to ensuring continuous improvement
  • Fully understands the McDonald’s Vietnam and Supply Chain Plans To Win and communicate to the assigned suppliers
  • Helps build strong relationships and foster teamwork among functions, suppliers, and other key stakeholders
  • Acts as a relationship partner with internal and external customers by establishing and maintaining open lines of communication
  • Provides support to initiatives of other functions within McDonald’s Vietnam (i.e. Marketing, Development, Operations, …) designed to achieve maximum business performance

 Cost Management

  • Determines pricing strategies for assigned product categories based on market / industry reviews, competition, and other factors
  • Understands supplier cost structure and is able to identify value adding opportunities for McDonald’s Vietnam.
  • Has a good understanding of current trends in pricing and is able to forecast costs and recommend appropriate actions when trends are either favorable or unfavorable
  • Identifies opportunities for supply chain improvements, cost savings, and profitability improvements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology/ Biotechnology is preferred
  • Strong knowledge in F&B industry and business with 2+ years relevant experience
  • Good communication in English and proven organizational skills
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex initiatives
