About us Coach For College provides a forum for college students to use sports to help youth from rural community access higher education. The program provides sports infrastructure to youth who attend rural middle schools, and helps them develop excitement for the learning of science, language, and life skills using sports as a means to applied learning. The overall goal is to help youth develop the motivation, confidence, and other skills needed to one day obtain a higher education, as the program’s coaches have done.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Cooperate with American student-athletes and Vietnamese college students to coach students from grade 6 to grade 9 in Hau Giang province.
• Coaching one sport (baseball, soccer, volleyball, basketball, dance fitness) and academic subject (Biology, English, Math, Physics)
• Coaching life skills to orientate students to follow their passion and make their life’s plan.
• Build up relationships and exchange knowledge, skills and cultures with the Vietnamese and American peers through daily teaching activities and weekend trips to other cities

Schedule

• Camp 1: May 27 - June 18, 2017
• Camp 2: June 24 - July 16, 2017
• Camp 3: July 22 – Aug 13, 2017

Location: Hoa An (or Vi Thuy) Commune, Hau Giang Province

Eligibilities

Applicants should meet these eligibilities to apply for the program:

• Being a student (or fresh graduate) at college/university and under 24 years old.
• Being able to communicate in English fluently.
• Being interested in and committed to voluntary activities.
• Being able to fully attend the program in 3 weeks in Hau Giang province.

Participation fee

Coach For College will cover the living expenses, including meals, accommodation in camp, camp transportations, uniform, stationery, and hotel during weekend trips in other cities for selected Vietnamese participants during your 3 week camp period. You will have to shoulder your travel fees to the program’s site, insurance and personal expenses yourself. Vietnamese participants are also required to pay 1.500.000 VND for each individual’s participation as contribution for their expenditures during a session. This fee will only be requested after you are confirmed as final participants. However, for qualified students who are having financial problem, we do offer financial aid. Please indicate your problem clearly in your application form in order for us to consider your case.
