The 17th Economix Global Economic Challenges (will be referred to as the 17th Economix hereinafter) Main Competition’s grand theme for this year is ‘Inequality in the Modern Era: An Unresolved Question’. In this competition, participants are challenged to organize their ideas and knowledge—concern of which is the world’s ability in maintaining its economic performances in the moment of not only incessant global economic problems, world—into the form of sharp and critical academic papers.

This international competition is open for all undergraduate students from universities all over the world. Participants of the Main Competition consist of two-person teams, with no minimum threshold for each university to send their teams to the competition.

The teams have to register online by filling in the Registration Form which can be obtained from the official link. The completed Registration Form, together with the paper, must be submitted to the committee not later than August 18, 2019. The papers will be assessed by judges, who are experts in their respective fields, including national and international academicians, economists, lecturers, and practitioners. The 17th Economix committee will select 12 teams with the best papers to advance to the next stages of the Main Competition. The 12 teams will take part in the next two phases, Head-to-Head Stages and Grand Final. In the Head-to-Head phase, three different panels of qualified adjudicators will each assess participants’ performances in their Paper Presentation, Knowledge Assessment, and Economix Face-Off respectively. In the Grand Final, a team of adjudicators will evaluate finalists’ presentation of the case study, that was given prior to the phase by the committee, to determine the winners of the Main Competition of the 17th Economix: Global Economic Challenges.

 Eligibilities

  • The competition is open to all undergraduate students enrolled in any recognized college or university.
  • Members of teams entering the competition must come from the same university/college.
  • Only entries by teams of two will be accepted for the competition application.
  • Entries must be submitted online to the instructions specified and will be acknowledged by an automated email.
  • Entries must be original work by the entrant.
  • The paper must not contain any information about the institutional origin of the writers. The cover format must follow the sample format provided by the committee.
  • Entrants will be required to give their date of birth, the name of their university/college, email address, postal address and telephone number, a photo, and either enrollment letter or student ID card as part of the online entry procedure.
  • Any form of plagiarism will result in an automatic disqualification. It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure that their paper does not infringe the copyright of any third party or any other laws.
  • Each team will be assigned with a name given by the 17th Economix committee.
  • The competition is not open to anyone who is currently professionally associated with the 17th Economix committee.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Apply online through the given link.
  • Fill up the Competition Main Form to complete registration. The papers must be submitted to [email protected] with the file name of [Main Competition_Member1_Member2_Institution]. Example: [Main Competiton_John_Smith_Universitas Indonesia].
  • Entries must be written in formal academic English, with a minimum of 5 pages and a maximum of 15 pages (not including cover, table of content, reference, tables, charts, and graphs), and typed in A4 paper following these guidelines:
    • The font is Times New Roman with size 12 and spacing 1.5.
    • The paper uses left margin of 4 cm; right margin 3 cm; top margin 3 cm; and bottom margin 3 cm.
    • The pages must be numbered.
    • A list of references which follows American Psychological Association (APA) format must be attached to the paper and includes, author, the title of publication, publisher if available, date or internet URL wherever possible.
    • Papers must be submitted in PDF format only.
