Save the Sardine! is the motto of the international Festas de Lisboa Sardine Contest 2018 that this year wants to help to preserve this species through imagination and stimulating participation without borders.Portuguese and foreigners, children and adults, artists and amateurs, in groups or individually, anyone can contribute to the multiplication of the sardine symbol of the Lisbon Festivities.
The theme is free and inspiration has no limits.Proposals must be recognized as sardines and not to be confused with any other fish. A basic sardine silhouette is provided on the contest’s website. Sardine proposals may be executed with manual or digital techniques.Candidates should submit their proposals digitally. If you have a 3D sardine you must photograph or scan it and then submit it as a file together with the application form. The file should be sent as JPEG/JPG (size up to 50 MB), on a format A3 (42 x 29,7 cm) and a resolution of 300 dpi. Video proposals should be presented as MPEG/MPG or MOV files (size up to 50 MB).
There is no entry fee.
Open worldwide to legal or natural persons of all ages.
Each one of the 5 winner proposals will receive 2.000 EUR (approx. 2,475 USD) and will be part of the communication campaign of the Lisbon Festivals'18.In this 8th edition of the contest, the public has a double challenge: besides being a participant, will also choose which 5 sardines will be distinguished with honourable mentions, through a vote in social networks.The winning sardines will be announced on May 31st.
