Who may enter
The Bridport Prize is open to writers of any nationality writing in English, 16 years old and over at the time of the closing date.
Description
The competition is organized by the Bridport Arts Centre.
We're an open writing competition that is dedicated to finding and encouraging the most promising new writers from across the world. Each year the judges award over £18,000 in prize money for your best submissions in poetry, short stories, flash fiction and first novels. The prize was founded in 1973, in a small town in Dorset, UK, by Peggy Chapman-Andrews.
All entries submitted can be on any subject, and written in any style or form. Entries must be in English.
• Poems: 42 lines max. No minimum.
• Short stories: 5000 words max. No minimum.
• Flash fiction: 250 words max. No minimum.
• Novel: 8,000 words max. 5,000 words minimum from opening chapters PLUS 300 word synopsis. Please note: the novel award is currently only open to writers in Britain and the Republic of Ireland.

£9 for each submitted poem
£10 for each submitted short story
£20 for each submitted novel
