SUMMARY

 Do you enjoy serving as the Chair and interacting with academic and dynamic Model UN conference delegates? 

  A varied range of leadership abilities are necessary to maintain a committee's success, and as chairperson, you are an expert in all of them. You maintain cool in the dynamic, quick-paced environment of the committee as you overcome each new difficulty. Building and motivating diverse delegations into high-performing blocs that produce good discussions while learning, drafting, and presenting working texts. The FTU MUN vision should be communicated to delegates and observers at all times.

DESCRIPTION

  The Chairperson's duties include overseeing the committee meetings to ensure their efficiency as well as accepting responsibility that is acceptable to everybody or at the very least a clear majority of delegates. As the committee's chairperson, you are in charge of directing activities including drafting background MUN guides for every delegate in your committee. Responsibilities extend beyond managing a committee and include In the meanwhile, the Chairman is also responsible for the committee's working environment and final product, assisting the delegates, and maintaining content control.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Fully attend the three-day conference of The Foreign Trade University Model United Nations;
• Confidence with chairing a committee under THIMUN or UNA-USA Rules of Procedures;
• Work closely with the Secretariats in content development to develop topics for Committee, mock MUN, training sessions, and the entrance exam for Delegates and Observers;
• Work closely with the designated co-chair to accomplish all given tasks promptly;
• Research thoroughly the topics of the committee and write necessary documents such as guidebooks;
• Take leading roles in evaluating delegates during the recruitment period;
• Take responsibility for supporting delegates with documentation, resources, and information as they get ready for the conference;
• Review all of the committee’s materials, including but not limited to guidebooks, country allocation, documents, and prize consideration;
• Ensure that the designated committee's members operate in a constructive, cooperative, fair, and friendly environment;
• Maintain the flow of the debate and working manners of all delegates and observers, have a great ability to analyze and steer the argument in a proper direction;
• Manage the debate session in terms of but not limited to timing, working environment, participants’ manner, and work quality;
• Evaluate the performance of delegates during the debate as well as the position paper and other pre- conference tasks.
