Job title:                            Student Experience Executive – Careers Services

Report to:                           Student Experience, Placements and Alumni Manager

Job Objectives:

The SE Executive (Career Services) is responsible in assisting the Student Experience Manager for the overall management and operations of the Department of Student Experience, Placements and Alumni which relates to Career Services, Alumni Relations and Partnership. He or she is to liaise with the Department Manager on all activities and events to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the Student Experience. He or she is also responsible to provide an excellent customer service to our students, alumni and partners at British University Vietnam. The role is subject to change depending on the needs of the University.

Key responsibilities:

Career & Employment Services

  • Assist in the administration of the operations of Career Services including internship programmes, job placements for our students and alumni
  • Maintain and improve the career placement database that is able to capture collaborations between the university and industry partners
  • Identify chances to increase the visibility of Career services to the industry partners and employers, and seek for potential career opportunities among employers and follow-up with their requests for employment related services and expand the network within the business community, human resources community in different areas and maintain relationships within the networks
  • Advertise and market the employment services within the University, announce internship and job openings to students, support students to prepare CVs and cover letters, interview skills… to ensure students have the industrial placement or internship or job opportunities
  • Assist in developing and co-ordinating the career and employment services and activities for students including career information and recruitment events, workshops & seminars, company visits and field trips to different organisations, experience sharing talks from guest speakers and business partners…
  • Assist Student Experience Manager to enhance, develop and facilitate information sessions, interviews, career seminars and workshops, career consultation, prepare various materials such as pamphlets and brochures, to provide information, guidance on resume preparation, interviewing techniques, and job search strategies to BUV students and alumni
  • Maintain and update the record of keeping and filing system of job postings, employer contacts, industry partners, alumni database and status, students, etc
  • Gather promotional materials/literature of competitors in the education industry in relation to career development.
  • Ensure quality customer services & timely responses to a variety of written requests from students and parents for information relating to career services via telephone, correspondence and/or electronic mail

Alumni Relations

  • Keep an updated file and record of alumni’s employment status on semester basis and follow-up on any career services’ request to provide support in job search, placement, reference letters, and career consultation for alumni
  • Assist in building a strong network and maintaining relationships with alumni to enhance the visibility of BUV alumni community.
  • Assist in arranging, planning and executing annual Alumni Dinner and other networking events and workshops for alumni and industrial partners, business community
  • Ensure timely responses to any request of alumni relating to further study support, employment opportunities or career guidance

Others

  • Participate in the implementation of policies and procedures for career services and extra-curricular activities
  • Assist Student Experience Manager in preparing periodic reports and newsletter updates for Management and the University
  • Ensure accurate and timely update of information including internships and job opportunities, students’ activities and events, workshops…via Emails, Website, Facebook and Notice Boards.
  • Assist the Academic Support – Student Experience Department in other areas when the need arises
  • Undertake any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Job Requirements:

  • Vietnamese national
  • Must be a graduate from a reputable university, preferably in Business, Education, Marketing, Human Resources. An international education is an advantage
  • Job search and job placement experience
  • Training, mentoring and counselling experience.
  • Candidates who have experience in recruitment consultancy will have advantages.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Good in project management, planning and particularly in execution
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management, organisational and networking skills
  • Flexibility and cultural awareness
  • Computer literacy in MS office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
